Family Guy Season 16 Episode 3 Review: Nanny Goats

Too much together time isn't necessarily a good thing.

Family Guy Season 16 Episode 3 found Lois and Peter rediscovering each other after Barbara Pewterschmidt hired a nanny to help Lois around the house.

Lois and Peter became one of "those" couples until they finally had enough.

Reconnecting - Family Guy

After a promising start to Family Guy Season 16, "Nanny Goats" was another disappointment. There wasn't much to latch onto here. Some of the jokes were so dumb they seemed funny (like the moth in the lampshade), and others just fell flat (too many to count).

The jokes weren't horrible, they were more shake your head type jokes rather than laugh out loud ones. And I guess maybe I'd like to see some Brian and Stewie focused stories or even some including more of the guys, especially Quagmire.

The standout joke (I always enjoy Family Guy's potshots at Disney) featured Mickey Mouse, including Peter's commentary following it. But then again, aren't they beating a dead horse? How many times are they going to go down that road? I think we get it already.

It's like those elongated scenes I can't stand (Peter's knee) that we got again, this time with Peter's breathing. Finding that funny must be a guy thing because I find no humor in those drawn-out jokes.

One of the things I do enjoy is when Family Guy makes potshots at other shows, in this case, Last Man on Earth. It wasn't necessarily a huge potshot, but it was a potshot nonetheless. And well-deserved, I might add.

Nanny Goats - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 3

Peter and Chris meeting the Uber driver with Natalia the nanny in a bathrobe welcoming them to their "work environment" was a worthy Family Guy moment. It seemed timely even if the episode was created months ago. At least I thought it was.

Too much Lois and Peter (instead of a mix of other characters) were almost like the point of the main plot. It's fun to have a lot of time together, but after a while, not only does it get annoying, it gets boring.

Peter and Lois loved their newfound time together, though. They were the envy of their friends! But after six straight days of togetherness, they'd had enough. Being together that much is not all it's cracked up to be.

By the time they got to the cabin for the weekend, being together was no longer fun. All their lovey-doveyness of the past six days got tossed out the window, and their getaway turned into one big insult fest. It was enjoyable watching them lay into each other.

Lois had the upper hand in the insult department. I loved when she said she died the day they got married. The things you sometimes say to your spouse.

Of course, they didn't mean any of it. Peter and Lois might not be the perfect couple, but they love each other, and they work well together except not as one of those 24/7 couples.

And we all know those 24/7 couples aren't working right behind the scenes. It's all fakery. What sane person wants to be glued to their significant other for that long of a period?

A healthy relationship allows for plenty of "me" time. "We" time is hugely overrated.

Natalia was a great nanny. She was like Stewie's dream nanny. Think of all the things Stewie could learn from her if she stuck around for a while. The action scene was the best part of her whole story, but reading Stewie those bedtime stories was a lot of fun, too.

Welcome Home - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 3

'Everybody Poops...Blood' was hugely funny, even if the story itself didn't get read. It's such a stupid book that it's funny, and with the Russian twist, it made it even funnier.

And I loved when Natalia threw Stewie out of the plane and told him to count to three then pull the string. Even if he didn't know his numbers, he figured it out, and like any little kid, though the whole trip was scary as hell, he wanted to do it again. It was a lot of fun! I'd want to do it again if I was his age.

Anything Stewie is always a good thing on Family Guy.

"Nanny Goats" wasn't horrible, but it was still a disappointment after the knock-out season opener. It's still early in the season, so maybe we'll be seeing more of the great than the mediocre. I hope so.

Why did Lois' parents think the kids needed a nanny?

That was addressed on Family Guy Season 16 Episode 3 when the kids were given a nanny, but as always, there was an ulterior motive.

Welcome Home - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 3

With Lois and Peter essentially living a kid-free lifestyle, they reconnected again and started to reminisce about what happened to them when they first fell in love.

Family Guy Season 16 Episode 4 Review: Follow The Money

$
0
0

I'm guilty. I obviously have no funny bone. Out of the entirety of Family Guy Season 16 Episode 4, there were only a few moments I found humorous.

I liked that we got to see so many Family Guy characters have a part in the travels of Chris' birthday dollar, but what was the point of it all?

Mayor West on a Run - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 4

Something could be said about the dollar that travels around being some sort of sexual commentary, but that's probably reading way more into it than intended.

It could just simply be a story about the interesting travels of a dollar in everyday life and where it starts and ends.

Considering "Follow the Dollar" was following The Simpsons umpteenth Treehouse of Horror episode, you'd think Family Guy would come up with something better.

But maybe, and maybe I'm just trying to grab onto something that's just not there, the dollar floating around town is just a spoof on The Simpsons opening sequence with the green rod traveling all over Springfield.

Mort: What a generous gift.
Carter: I know. Isn't money great?
Mort: Oh, it's the best.

Maybe the entire premise of the "Follow the Dollar" is that they are following the dollar? Not that Family Guy isn't a money maker of its own, but it will always be on the bottom of the animation totem pole. At least that's what many people think.

Or maybe there just wasn't supposed to be a point to "Follow the Dollar" at all.

Like the female chick-chick and chick fight. It was as pointless as Peter's fight with the male chicken (I can't remember its name). There is no point to the entire chicken fight and making it female-centric didn't make it any better.

A Chick Fight

The silly slapping fight between the two was extra silly. We've all seen Lois in a girl fight before, and she doesn't silly slap. That's not her style.

The only point of the silly girl fight was to knock over the tip jar so that the dollar could continue on its journey. And, yes, I used silly a lot in that sentence because that's basically what those long-take chicken fight scenes are: silly. And stupid. I forgot stupid.

I'm just glad Lois' fight didn't go on forever like Peter's fight with the Giant Chicken usually does.

The only redeeming part of the Lois' chicken fight was Nicole removing four eggs before the fight started. For some reason, maybe because I was looking for something to laugh at, I found that funny.

If you really think about it, the whole thing is ridiculous just for the fact at how stupid it is that a hen would be pissed off that her mate (what is he a cock? a rooster?) is having lunch with a someone of a completely different race. But I guess even chickens get jealous.

I did find the ending scene amusing with Lois texting Giant Chicken and waiting for a reply that wasn't coming after she texted "goodnight." Those little dots were moving and then...nothing.

Peter's turn at having the dollar was probably the best. I loved how he grabbed it from Stewie and gave him a spoon instead. Stewie may be the smartest kid on the block, but he's still a baby.

Meg on a Date - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 4

But the best had to be when he was in the car and ordered his second breakfast. How many times have you seen people eating food they shouldn't be eating in the car?

Or doing things they shouldn't be doing in the car like making podcasts or whatever Peter was doing. No matter how many warnings, people still behave badly in their car, but who doesn't laugh when Peter is the one doing it? It's such a Peter thing to do.

Carter: Can I turn off everything but the blacklights?
DJ: Sure, I don't care about anything
Carter: Cool.
Chris: Wow. This place is gross.
Carter: Yeah. The NBA All-Star Game was in town last week.

Poor Peter couldn't even sink a penny in a shot glass. Maybe he just wasn't drunk enough because if Joe could do it more than once, what exactly was Peter's problem? At least Quagmire figured out that Peter needed to be treated like the baby he is and they had to pretend Peter got the penny in the glass.

Anything with Mort always makes me laugh. Does it make me a racist to laugh at all the Jewish jokes on Family Guy? Because I do. I can't help it. They're so exaggerated which is what makes them so funny.

Sort of like the NBA jokes, but those really aren't that exaggerated, are they?

What did you think of "Follow the Money"? What was your favorite part? What did you like least? Were there any parts that made you laugh out loud?

How did everyone feel about being in receipt of one of the most coveted dollar bills in the United States of America?

That was the big question on Family Guy Season 16 Episode 4 when Chris was gifted with a special one for his birthday.

However, things took a tense turn when it emerged that he had lost it, so the action followed everyone who found it as it passed through town.

Did Chris get it back?

Family Guy Season 16 Episode 5 Review: Three Directors

$

Well, that was odd.

On Family Guy Season 16 Episode 5 we got to see how three different Hollywood directors would handle the story of Peter getting fired from the brewery if it was made into a movie.

Tongue Action - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 5

Family Guy poking fun at three Hollywood directors was fun in an odd sort of way.

I can't decide if I liked the Quentin Tarantino version of Peter Gets Fired better or the Michael Bay version, but both were a lot more interesting than the Wes Anderson version of the story.

I'll think I'll go with the Michael Bay version because it was so utterly ridiculous.

Peter is all buffed up and tasked with fighting Transformer-like machines in order to save the Seven Wonders of the World. He gathers his equally buffed-up friends and they fight the machines off, as expected, with Peter becoming the hero and returning from the dead.

Even if you enjoy Michael Bay's films, watching Family Guy poke fun at his style makes you wonder why you watch his films in the first place because they are over-the-top, just like Quentin Tarantino's films.

And although I like Grand Budapest Hotel (mostly because of Ralph Fiennes), watching pieces of it in cartoon format did put it in a different perspective.

Peter and Friends - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 5

Yes, Wes Anderson is boring, at least compared to the other two directors. He's a lot more intellectual and artsy.

Bay and Tarantino are just fun, mindless entertainment, like Family Guy is sometimes.

According to Fox, this was Carrie Fisher's penultimate episode, so we only have one more episode of her as Angela.  Adam West also made an appearance as the President of the United States in the same segment.

The best parts of the Michael Bay segment had to be Angela and Peter's tongue kissing and the end fight between Peter and the machines. It never occurred to me how all those close-ups and fast action sequences made it hard to follow the story, but isn't that the point?

Everybody loves a good action scene, and who doesn't like attractive people in skimpy clothes? I loved the little digs they threw in with Peter dancing and a close-up of Angela's boobs. There was something for everybody.

Tricia Kicks Ass - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 5

Quentin Tarantino's films are sometimes hard to watch and you either like him or you don't. I like Tarantino (Pulp Fiction is still my favorite), but I only remember snippets of Kill Bill.

Peter dressing up as Ronald McDonald got a laugh mostly because it was the outfit Peter would choose no matter who was directing that segment.

You have to give credit to Family Guy for poking fun at itself with Tricia Takanawa's insight about the lack of diversity on Family Guy. It's a big deal now, so why shouldn't Family Guy jump into the pool?

But it wasn't only that, it was the fact that Tricia was the token Asian fighting Peter ninja style as if only Asians can fight like ninjas. Even though there were umpteen Tricia Takanawas, Peter still kicked their asses with no problem at all. Purely absurd, but wasn't it an accurate depiction of Tarantino's style?

And all that gratuitous violence and squirting blood. I'm almost embarrassed to admit I enjoy Tarantino's films.

The best part of that segment was the end when Peter sliced Angela in half and her squirting blood danced along to opera music. Yes, even in animation I find squirting blood amusing, but what is the difference between that and a Tom and Jerry cartoon with Jerry pulling out Tom's eyeballs? Think about it.

Peter is Perfect - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 5

The final segment featured the story in Wes Anderson style and it was completely different from the other two, but, again, the segment pointed out things that I probably noticed, but never fully registered such as his symmetrical style.

Okay, I never noticed his symmetrical style. I'm not a film student, so thanks, Family Guy, for enlightening me. I'm serious.

There were no traditional Family Guy cutaways, but Peter did introduce each segment, and, of course, he was able to fit in a dick joke. What would Family Guy be without its dick jokes?

Overall, this was a decent installment. Odd, but fun.

What did you think of "Three Directors"? Which segment was your favorite?

Did you learn anything new about any of the featured directors and their styles?

Was there anything in particular that stood out or made you laugh?

What happens when three major movie directors influence an episode of Family Guy?

On Family Guy Season 16 Episode 5, things took a crazy turn when the episode as Peter found himself losing his job at the brewery.

However, things took a turn when it happened in the vein of three big Hollywood film directors.

This meant there was action, carnage and a whole lot of death thrown in for good measure.

Peter Griffin never fails to surprise! And neither does Family Guy.

To celebrate the November 7 release of Family Guy Season 15 on DVD, we have an exclusive deleted scene for you to check out below!

We won't spoil all the fun, but we can't help but laugh at Peter's idiocy as his fascination with the telephone book takes center stage.

Can you imagine listening to a gazillion phone numbers being read aloud?

What would Lois think if she found out? While it may make us shake our heads, it would probably turn Lois on.

As goofy as Peter is, Lois finds him endearing. And they make a great couple, don't they?

There were a lot of fun episodes on Family Guy Season 15, but anything featuring Quagmire makes us all gooey inside.

His introduction to the Tinder universe on The Family Guy Season 15 Episode 14, "The Dating Game" was one of our favorites of the season.

We also loved Family Guy Season 15 Episode 16, "Saturated Fat Guy". Who can forget the "Eat My Junk" logo on the front of Peter's truck?

The Family Guy Season 15 DVD features 20 episodes, 16 of which are uncensored and special deleted scenes.

The DVD also features a special tribute to Carrie Fisher and Adam West. We miss them already, don't we?

Family Guy Season 16 Episode 6 Review: The D in Apartment 23

Blame it on the Millennials.

Anything anyone says these days has the potential to become offensive even if it's just a stupid joke like the one Brian posted on Twitter on Family Guy Season 16 Episode 6.

And Brian's Twitter joke wasn't stupid at all. It was actually funny if you read it for what it was and not for some imaginary message he didn't intend.

No Sense of Humor - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 6

But the sensitivity brigade got hold of it and twisted it around to make it sound like Brian was the biggest racist in the world. Everyone joined in on their condemnation of him even going so far as to ostracize the entire Griffin family just because he lived with them.

Not once did anyone look in the mirror and question why it was they turned a simple Tweet into something racial.

Brian was making fun of himself for being white and college educated and choosing to see a movie like Baywatch, but because he mentioned Kevin Hart's movie, people automatically assumed he was making a racist comment.

If it was a Liam Neeson movie instead, would it have been just as offensive?

You can't say boo about anyone or anything lest you get labeled which is humorous in itself because the people doing the labeling are also the same people who don't want to be labeled.

Lois: What were you thinking writing that Tweet?
Brian: What? It was just a joke.
Lois: Brian, it's not 2005. You can't just go online and say whatever you want.

And if you don't pitch a hissy fit when someone does something deemed "offensive" you're just as much a part of the problem as the person who did the "offensive" act in the first place.

Brian couldn't even apologize for his Tweet because everything he tried to say became offensive to somebody or something. No matter how hard he tried at sounding neutral, someone found something wrong with every word that came out of his mouth.

Say "ladies" first, he's sexist. Say "gentlemen" first, he hates women.

And let's not forget all those people who don't identify with anything because they don't want to be boxed into any category. The safest bet is to just call everyone "it" until that becomes an insensitive label, too.

It's a no-win situation and that's what Brian found himself in.

Lois is Shunned - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 6

His entire outburst on the stoop should have been an eye-opener for the crowd because every word he said was true. And hilarious.

Everybody thought his joke was horrifically offensive, but nobody stopped to think about the responses to his Tweet.

People called him names, threatened to kill him or told him to kill himself.

How many people jumped on the bandwagon to attack Brian just because everyone else was doing it?

Did it make them feel like they were a contributing member of society?

All of their behavior was just an acceptable form of social bullying, only it wasn't seen that way because Brian was the one who was being insensitive. He offended and, therefore, was in the wrong so he had what was coming to him.

One of the most amusing parts of Brian's outburst was when he told the crowd he once kissed a transsexual. It directly referenced the controversy surrounding Family Guy Season 8 Episode 18, "Quagmire's Dad" which was so offensive people are still Tweeting about it seven years later.

Brian's New Place - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 6

SEVEN YEARS and people still hold a grudge against Seth MacFarlane because Brian barfed for a full 30 seconds after learning the truth about Ida.

SEVEN YEARS. Think about that.

So why shouldn't Family Guy stir the pot some more by having Brian question where his medal was for kissing Ida in the first place? He should get a participation medal for that, shouldn't he?

That joke is sure to go over the Millennials' heads.

Cafeteria Kid: Your dog wrote an insensitive Tweet. You can't eat here.
Chris: Uh oh, Meg. It's a sensitivity mob.
Meg: It was just a joke.
Cafeteria Girl: There's no such things as jokes anymore.
Other Cafeteria Boy: Yeah, we live in a post-joke world.

Brian didn't find any comfort from his family after his outburst. Not only did his Tweet and the subsequent Twitter storm affect him, it affected all of the Griffins too. Chris and Meg regurgitated their The Kingsmen fight in the school cafeteria, Lois was shunned at the grocery store, and Peter was side-eyed by his friends.

It caused them so much grief they asked Brian to move out. They no longer wanted to be associated with someone that caused so much trouble even though the Tweet was taken completely out of context.

Brian's entire life was ruined because of one Tweet. Say the wrong thing on social media, and you might as well commit suicide.

What does this say about our society? When is enough, enough?

The ending of "The D in Apartment 23" was odd. Is Brian doomed to be alone forever? Will the Griffins take him back and risk the social implications?

What do you guys think? Are we being too sensitive? Can we joke around anymore without offending? When did we become so serious about everything?

Did one tweet ruin Brian's life?

That was the big question on Family Guy Season 16 Episode 6 when he sent an offensive tweet that viral.

This put him on the outs with everyone in Quaohog, and the Griffins had to sever ties with him in order to be able to walk the streets without everyone talking about them.

Determined to prove it was not as it seemed, Brian went to extreme measures.

Family Guy Season 16 Episode 7 Review: Petey IV

$

While I appreciated the satire on Family Guy Season 16 Episode 7, there's only so much Russia/Trump talk I can endure before I pull all my hair out.

Maybe I have the "eh" affliction like Peter did when Putin explained how Russia not only rigged the last election, but all previous American elections. Mess with the election, who cares. Mess with football, well, now you've got my attention.

Well, it got Peter's attention. I could care less about football.

Putin Comes To Town - Family Guy

So, the question is if that's how apathetic we've become or are we all just tired of hearing about the election that will never go away that we just tend to ignore it for something much more interesting?

We have become so overwhelmed with stupidity on every level, it's easier to just retreat back into our mundane lives than have to deal with and do something about any of the problems at hand.

Even if we wanted to do something, what are our options? Because, you know, the #resist movement has been so effective. Let's all just stand in front of Trump Tower and give it the middle finger because that makes a big difference, doesn't it?

And all the attention we give to Trump's idiotic tweets just empowers him to continue all his nonsensical ramblings.

Putin may be Trump's best friend, but behind his back, Putin's laughing his ass off at us.

Out of everything that Family Guy threw at us on "Petey IV" the best part was Trump's text to Putin. So sad that a guy who talks like this (we heard it with our own ears) was elected to the highest office in the land.

Putin Text

Another segment worth noting was the Polaner All Fruit commercial and explanation and then the Russian version with meat jelly even though it wasn't in commercial form. And you had to laugh at Peter saying the Russian DVD he picked up at the mini-mart was in terrorist language.

While Peter was off fighting Putin in Russia for messing with football and having head injury-induced hallucinations that had him dancing with the Russian leader in the ring to Lionel Ritchie (there is a significance to the whole "Say You Say Me" song used here. Think about it), Brian had his own adventures on the other side of Quahog.

In other words, Brian was just being his scummy self.

You'd think after being cast out for a misinterpreted Tweet that Brian might rethink his life and try to make a change for the good, but throw a woman into his path and he just can't help himself.

Who do you think is the worse offender on this show? Brian or Quagmire?

Brian was late on rent, and he was getting no help from his old family, so he got a job at a suicide hotline where he met Martha and immediately felt the need to get to know her better.

Peter: So what do you do for fun around here? You got DirectTV?
Putin: We have Time-Warner.
Peter: You have HBO?
Putin: We have Starz.
Peter: You have ESPN?
Putin: We have FOX Sports 1.
Peter: That come in HD?
Putin: 420D.
Peter: You got --
Putin: Everything you say, I say something little bit worse.
Peter: You got Simpsons?
Putin: We have Family Guy.
Peter: Ah. I did it to myself.

It's getting harder and harder to feel sorry for Brian when his behavior keeps disintegrating, and his behavior sunk to new levels this hour.

Is this really the character we were so outraged got killed off a few seasons ago that he had to be resurrected by Stewie's time machine?

Is he really that desperate that he feels the need to jerk off to the picture of the mother of the woman that rejected him? And pictures of her crying at a funeral no less.

And why isn't Brian wearing pants anyway? This is such a weird show.

But the whole point of what he did to Martha was that it reminded me of all the sexual harassment/abuse stories coming out of Hollywood.

The only thing I kept thinking of was Louis C.K which is ironic considering he was on Family Guy Season 16 Episode 1 well before his recent downfall.

I also had to scratch my head at Martha saying she thought Brian's unwanted attention was a "compliment" after she was originally offended by it.

Watching Rocky IV - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 7

Is this a slam against women for changing their mind and sending mixed messages or against men for being stupid in the first place and then not learning their lesson after the fact?

Brian ended up screwing Martha anyway by planting drugs in her desk. Nice way to shut someone up about sexual harassment. Could this be a reference to Rose McGowan's allegations? But this episode had to be finished before that controversy surfaced, right?

It's all very uncanny and really makes you wonder how much Seth MacFarlane really knows.

What did you think of "Petey IV"? Will Brian ever get back to the Griffin household? Were you all in on the Russia/Trump jokes?

Or are you tired of hearing anything Russia/Trump related?

What was your favorite joke tonight?

Fox Cheat Sheet: Gotham, The Exorcist & More In Danger!

Fox has a string of shows that are aging, and that means there are some big decisions to come for them.

The fate of shows like Gotham and Lethal Weapon will likely hinder on their performances in the spring. In addition to that, Fox has just three new midseason shows to premiere.

Those are 9-1-1, LA to Vegas and The Resident. If one or more of them are breakout hits, the network could clean house with some of the marginally performing series.

Have a look below at how your favorite Fox shows stack up.

1. Empire - Certain Renewal

Empire certain renewal
Empire has been trending downward since Season 2. Season 4 is off 30 percent vs. last season. It is averaging 5.9 million viewers and a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49. The show gets a decent boost of almost 60 percent with 7 days of DVR factored in, but the continued erosion has to be concerning for Fox. It still has a long way left to fall before being in any danger.

2. The Simpsons - Renewed

The simpsons renewed
The Simpsons has benefited from a football lead-in multiple times this season. It is currently averaging 3.6 million viewers and a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49. It has already been renewed!

3. Star - Certain Renewal

Star certain renewal
Fox gifted Star with a post-Empire slot this season and the show is currently up in the ratings. It is averaging 4.3 million viewers and a 1.4 rating. The show gets a modest boost on the DVR front, but its live ratings will keep it around.

4. The Orville - Renewed

The orville renewed
Fox took a risk with this new Seth McFarlane series and it paid off. Season 1 is averaging 4.5 million viewers and a 1.3 rating. The show more than doubles when DVR ratings are factored in. It's such a hit that it has already snagged a renewal!

5. Bob's Burgers - Certain Renewal

Bobs burgers certain renewal
Bob's Burgers is up almost 20 percent this season. It is averaging 2.7 million viewers and a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49. With a feature length move in the works, the series will stick around.

6. Family Guy - Certain Renewal

Family guy certain renewal
This comedy series is down marginally and is currently averaging 2.7 million viewers and a 1.2 rating. It builds 50 percent with a week of DVR factored in. It's a reliable performer and will be back.

Family Guy Season 16 Episode 8 Review: Crimes and Meg's Demeanor

$

The Twitter pariah finally returns home!

It took two incredible episodes, but on Family Guy Season 16 Episode 8, Brian finally returned home where he belongs.

He was a little banged up after his fall through the open window, but at least he survived.

Meg Starts Drinking - Family Guy

How many movie references did you count?

For a show that's only twenty minutes, there were plenty of movie references including The Usual Suspects (and another jab at Kevin Spacey), a Quagmire version of The Dark Knight (which was cool), Home Alone (my favorite) and a clever reference to JAWS, but the biggest nod was to Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window.

Since Brian broke his leg and was wheelchair-bound, he had nothing to do but spy on his neighbors. Even if he wasn't wheelchair-bound, he would probably spy on his neighbors anyway. What else is he going to do?

Lots of people do it. My mother-in-law will tell you all about what the neighbors across the street are doing and speculate about what it all means.

Sometimes she comes up with some pretty wild stories about them much like Brian did when he saw Principal Shepard drag a bloody-looking garbage bag across the floor.

Brian pieced together a story where he believed Principal Shepard had killed his wife because he saw them arguing earlier and concluded that the bloody bag he was dragging across the floor contained her body.

Spying on the Neighbors - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 8

None of it was true.

Yet, Brian wasn't called out for spying on his neighbors. Instead, the newspaper declared him a hero because the bloody-looking stuff pouring out of the garbage bag ended up being cans of disgusting cafeteria food Shepard stole from the school.

Poor Principal Shephard had to steal food because he was hungry, but Brian got accolades and got invited back home for spying and making up stories.

Lois' reasons for taking Brian back were as stupid as her reasons for kicking him out in the first place! And did you notice how quick she was to jump on the bandwagon?

The lesson I learned from Brian's escapades was that busybodies are just as dangerous as social justice warriors. If you think about it, it's true.

How many lives have been destroyed because of neighborhood gossip? How many laws have been enacted because of busybodies who have nothing to do and feel it's their job to tell us how to run our lives?

But there was another lesson. Brian was so busy making up stories that he missed the big one.

How many of you thought that Shepard was going to do something nasty to Stewie after he came back into the room after looking under the dress?

Could Brian have inadvertently saved a bunch of dolls from potential abuse?

Brian's New Hobby - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 8

But he missed what was happening because he was too busy eating so it became the viewer's turn to make assumptions.

A grown man playing with dolls is weird. And him looking under a doll's dress is a serious red flag. (Stewie's expressions during the whole ordeal were golden.)

In the end, maybe Shepard got what he deserved, but does this mean busybodies deserve a pat on the back?

While Brian and Stewie were having their Rear Window adventure, Meg went on a drinking adventure with Peter.

She discovered that drinking gave her a confidence she never had before. She hung out and talked to people she never would have had she not had alcohol in her.

But what drinking gave her was an opportunity to hang out with Peter without all the insults he usually throws her way.

Lois: And Meg I hope you learned your lesson about drinking.
Meg: Yeah. I think I'd rather live my life as a loser than feel bad once in a while.
Lois: Well, I hope you know that you're our loser.
Meg: Thanks, mom.

It's sad that the only thing he could find in common with his daughter was drinking, but you have to admit their adventures were quite fun!

And why wouldn't they be? They were drinking.

I loved when Meg finally came down from her drunk and was hit with a major hangover. Peter, in his own weird way, showed what a great dad he was by helping her get over her hangover.

Theirs may not be the most healthiest of relationships, but he still loves and cares about her. They're the Griffins. They're meant to be dysfunctional. And they're a hell of a lot more fun than The Simpsons sometimes.

Speaking about The Simpsons, did Peter and Lois have their own little couch gag, or am I reading too much into the upside down couch?

That was the big question on Family Guy Season 16 Episode 8 when Meg took up drinking and Peter realized maybe she really was his child.

With Meg's behavior getting crazier by the minute, the Griffins were forced to make some changes to wean Meg off of the alcohol, but did it work?

Meanwhile, Brian began keeping an eye out on his neighbor when it became clear there was unrest in the town.

Family Guy Season 16 Episode 9 Review: Don't Be a Dickens at Christmas

Bah Humbug!

About the only interesting part of  Family Guy Season 16 Episode 9 was the jab at Matthew McConaughey and his Lincoln car commercials.

They are creepy, aren't they?

Christmas Ghosts - Family Guy

The worst part of those commercials is when they do a close up of McConaughey putting in his contacts. I don't really get how that helps sell a luxury car, but whatever, they're not my advertising dollars.

Maybe Lincoln thinks McConaughey's smoldering looks are enough for us to overlook any of the weirdness of that entire campaign.

And after seeing those two kids tied up in the back of the car, should we expect to see McConaughey in the news sometime soon?

I wouldn't be surprised if we did. The guy is one strange fella.

When it came to the Family, what Peter needed was a lesson about the Christmas spirit after Lois got frustrated with him and took the kids to her parent's house for Christmas.

There are some people who just aren't into Christmas, and it turns out Peter is one of those guys. I'm surprised he got away with not going to the Pewterschmidts house during the holidays all these years.

Carter Calls His Grandmother - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 9

But maybe that was the whole point. Why is there such a thing as the "Christmas Spirit?"

We're forced to be with family we don't see or even like, but we need to set that aside that time of the year for the Christmas spirit. If we don't, then we are considered terrible people.

Not only that, we're expected to bring gifts for these same people. It all seems like a farce.

Brian had the right idea to volunteer during Christmas since it's the season of "giving," but even that is a farce.

Why only volunteer at Christmastime? Is it supposed to make us better people when we do it around the holidays? Why not do it all year long if we're just good people?

Brian didn't sign up the family because he felt strongly about giving back, he did it because he is cheap and didn't want to give anything of substance, at least according to Meg and Chris. And they weren't too happy about the poem he wrote for them the previous year, either.

But doesn't that seem more heartfelt than going to a store and buying something? Why is it always buy, buy, buy?

Brian's New Sweater - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 9

People have many expectations when it comes to gifts and many judgments about the gifts they receive. It doesn't seem to fit with the "Christmas spirit" we are all supposed to have during the holidays.

Patrick Swayze took Peter on a trip through Christmas past, present, and future. Peter had a lot of fun following Swayze around, as you'd expect, since the long-deceased actor is Peter's favorite.

About the only thing that really bothered Peter was Lois finding a new husband and flirting with the waiter at the Pewterschmidts' house during Christmas dinner.

At least he realized how much his family meant to him and that snapped him out of his stupidity.

In the end, he found his Christmas spirit and gave everyone "thoughtful" gifts from the CVS store he stopped at on his way to the Pewterschmidts' house, but the lesson was that being with his family was the most important part of the holiday.

It's not about gifts. It's about being with the people you love and care about.

One of the funniest bits of this installment was Brian's farts while he was sleeping on Peter's grave.

What kind of Family Guy Christmas Special would it be without a few fart jokes? And I really liked how the fart Peters appeared in a ghost-like form. It made it funnier, even if the subject matter wasn't very Christmassy.

Otherwise, there wasn't much more to brag about on this very special Christmas episode

Brian returning to the family after his Twitter fiasco wasn't addressed. It was just business as usual in the Griffin household.

Maybe it was because Brian is a dog and dogs are silly and forget things rather quickly. How many dogs have fallen for the "I'm going to throw the ball but not really throw the ball" trick?

Brian is supposed to be smarter than your average, everyday dog, but the bottom line is that he's still a dog.

Still, it was nice to see the family back together again. Let bygones be bygones. That's another part of the Christmas spirit, right?

What did you think of "Don't Be a Dickens at Christmas"? Should we be expecting controversial news about Matthew McConaughey?

15 TV Characters on Santa's Naughty List

Santa loves TV as much as we do, and he's been keeping a list of who's been naughty and who's been nice.

There are going to be some very disappointed TV characters on Christmas morning when they find Santa left them coal instead of a special gift, but that's what you get when you haven't been on your best behavior!

Click through the slides to find out who made Santa's naughty list!

1. Felicity Smoak - Arrow

Felicity smoak arrow
Felicity could have had a great year, but she ruined it in one fell swoop by making Barry and Iris' wedding about her instead of letting the happy couple have their day. Not only did she make a huge scene at the rehearsal, she actually overstepped the bounds of good taste when she pushed the happy couple aside to make room for her and Oliver's unexpected nuptials. Olicity fans might have been thrilled at the turn of events, but Santa thought it was tactless and very, very naughty.

2. Lois Griffin - Family Guy

Lois griffin family guy
Lois wasn't a very good fur mommy when she kicked Brian out of the house because he posted something on Twitter that was completely blown out of proportion. She's overlooked far worse infractions from the beloved family pet, but this time she decided to fall in line with group mentality and ignore common sense. She eventually let Brian back in the house after he did something equally stupid, but it was too little too late. All Santa could do was shake his head and put a checkmark in the naughty column.

3. Sofia Falcone - Gotham

Sofia falcone gotham
She seemed so innocent but only turned out to be one tricky little vixen with no sense of decency. The terror Gotham faced with Professor Pyg was all her doing, and if that wasn't enough, she put out a hit on her own father. Sofia's been a very naughty girl. She won't be getting just one lump of coal but a whole pile for all her dirty deeds!

4. The Night King - Game of Thrones

The night king game of thrones
Who would ever have guessed that Santa is a huge Game of Thrones fan? He was just as devastated by Viserion's death as the rest of us. Viserion wasn't just any dragon, he was Santa's favorite dragon. The Night King has always been on Santa's naughty list, but that little trick of bringing Viserion back to life put the Night King on permanent naughty list status.

5. Ian Garvey - The Blacklist

Ian garvey the blacklist
Ian Garvey is an incredibly vicious man who Santa has been watching like a hawk. Santa always tries to find the good in people, but Garvey is a lost cause. He had his men put a dead woman through a wood chipper to get rid of evidence which was horrific but he was the man behind Tom Keen's death. For that, Santa will never forgive him. Garvey is another permanent member of the naughty list!

6. Aunt Lydia - The Handmaid's Tale

Aunt lydia the handmaids tale
Aunts are supposed to be loving and cuddly and everything nice, but Aunt Lydia is far from any of that. She's got a nasty mean streak, and Santa knows what she's been up to. She may be hoping for a fluffy new robe or fuzzy, warm slippers, but the only thing she'll be getting this year is a cold lump of coal.

Family Guy Season 16 Episode 10 Review: Boy (Dog) Meets Girl (Dog)

Peter and Lois were only trying to make Chris feel better when they created Arthur Valentine. But Chris is a teenager now and believing in Arthur Valentine is just as bad as if he believed in Santa Claus.

On Family Guy Season 16 Episode 10, Peter and Lois have to break the bad news about Arthur Valentine, but it's not as easy as they thought it would be.

Chris In Blue - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 10

The sad thing about growing up is that you grow up. Childhood is full of innocence and magic, and then, when you reach a certain age, it's destroyed.

Had Quagmire and the rest of the guys not been there when Chris became excited about Arthur Valentine, Lois and Peter probably would have continued letting him believe in the Valentine's Day guy that brought gifts to special boys and girls.

Think about when you found out the truth about Santa Claus. If you were like me, it was one of the most disappointing things ever. Why is there a time when you're too old to believe in things like Santa?

Maybe if we still had the innocence of childhood, adulthood wouldn't be grim.

Of course, if Chris' classmates weren't so mean, Lois and Peter wouldn't have had this problem to begin with. Or we could break it down even further and blame the retailers, ala Hallmark,  for creating a meaningless holiday that does nothing but cause people pain.

Peter Calls Out - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 10

There's no point in children giving other children Valentine's. Retailers are just trying to train us young.

And certainly there is no point to doing it nowadays when you have to give one to everyone so there are no hurt feelings (like Chris), but that goes into a whole new discussion about coddling that we don't have time for here.

Peter and Lois were trying to do what was best for their kid, but Arthur Valentine's death was as ridiculous as his creation. I had to laugh at Lois gunning it to kill Valentine. It was such a Lois thing to do, but she didn't expect Chris to have such a horrible reaction to watching Valentine die so violently.

And that's what made it so funny. Parents create these myths and then break them down and expect children not to be traumatized. Silly parents.

Chris wasn't the only one to be traumatized in the Griffin household.

Brian ate a box of chocolates and almost died, but Peter got him to the vet in time to have his stomach pumped thus saving his life.

The best moment came at the vet's office when "Billy Joel" showed up and did a number about what was found in Peter's stomach. I couldn't stop laughing. "I couldn't poop those items...."

Dog Show - Family Guy

It didn't take long for Brian to find someone to fall in love with at the vet's office. This time it was a cute little vixen named Ellie, who also happened to be a dog. Gasp.

How many times has Brian actually fell for one of his own kind?

But like every other time, he's "never felt this way before." Doesn't he ever get tired of that feeling that never becomes anything?

Ellie might have been the best match for Brian even if it didn't work out in the end. I liked that she called him out on not knowing anything about Jackson Pollock. Brian's fakery can be too much, sometimes.

But everyone wants to be loved and that's all Brian is looking for. And sex. Let's not forget about sex.

The Little Bitch - Family Guy Season 16 Episode 10

Remember when Peter wanted Brian to be in a dog show and how upset Brian was about the whole thing? Too bad there was an Ellie to inspire him because he had no problem performing in a dog show for the opportunity to "breed" with Ellie.

Too bad he couldn't perform in the end when it really counted, but who could blame him when there an audience that included Quagmire and his "all-access" pass? That was weird.

There were a couple of other standouts in Brian's storyline. I enjoyed the beagle scout joke Brian told Ellie which was a throwback to when Brian stole all of Stewie's jokes for his stand-up routine and the 9/11 reference, which was just clever.

Was Ellie the one for Brian?

That appeared to be the case on Family Guy Season 16 Episode 10 when the lovable pooch met up with another dog at the vet.

However, things took a crazy turn when Brian opted to enter a dog show competition in the hopes of getting to breed with her.

Meanwhile, Peter and Lois tried to find a way to make Chris understand that "Arthur Valentine" did not exist.

Did they succeed?
