Family Guy Season 14 Episode 5 Review: Peter, Chris & Brian

What defines a person as a success or a failure?

On Family Guy Season 14 Episode 5, Peter faces this question after he watches a video of himself he made as a teenager. The video makes him feel like a failure. When he sees Chris doing some of the same things he did in the video, he vows to make Chris a success.

But Peter soon learns that success is a matter of perspective.

Fixing Chris - Family Guy

There were no subplots this time around. The focus was purely on Peter and his thinking on success and failure. And transformation.

Peter discovers his teenage video after he learns his mother's house was sold. He remembers that he hid a stash or porn videos in the house and wants to retrieve them. He reminisces about the videos and his teenage life with the guys at the Clam and they decide to break into the house to get the videos back.

They never get to that point because the owner of the house comes out and after Peter explains what they are doing there, the guy tells him to get the videos out because he has kids. Like guys who have kids don't watch porn.

Peter is all excited to have his videos back and is going to binge watch, but the thrill is gone. He realizes it's not the same as when he was a teenager. He's made a transformation. He's become an adult.

But even as an adult, Peter is still "Peter." He just doesn't realize it at the moment.

When he decides to make Chris a success, he does a lot of Peter-type goofy things to try to make Chris sophisticated which Peter believes is the path to success.

The funniest of them all was when they walked into their living room high-stepping with tall hats.

It was refreshing to see a Peter that wasn't completely obnoxious. He was doing a good job being a fun, good dad, and it was unfortunate that he didn't realize how much of a good influence he was on his kid. But since his objective was to sophisticate Chris and he felt he failed at that too, he decided to hand over the reins to Brian.

What better character to help someone become a blowhard than Brian. It was interesting to watch Brian's manipulation of Chris and Chris' transformation into something he wasn't. But blowhard Chris is boring.

Peter isn't enjoying blowhard Chris either, especially when the new Chris isn't interested in doing the same goofy things he did before. But luckily for Peter, and all of us, blowhard Chris doesn't last long.

All it took was for him to realize he was a fraud just like Brian. I loved when he called Brian out at the book club. And it was touching when Chris showed up at the zoo and told Peter that he wants to grow up and be just like him.

There weren't a lot of laugh-out-loud moments this time around, and the cutaways were kind of lame (as they have been pretty much this season – what was the point of the Pai Gow – Vegas one?????), but the story was fantastic.

On this installment of the Fox comedy, Peter received a check in the mail from the sale of his mother's house - and he recalled that all of his old porn is still in there. Uh-oh!

Or, should say instead... SCORE!

When Peter returned to the residence to retrieve his stash, he discovered a "to Peter from Peter" tape and realized that his life has amounted to nothing. Nothing at all.

Reeling from his own failures, Peter then decided to fix Chris before it's too late, forcing his son to spend time with Brian.

You can imagine how this went, right? Go ahead and use the above video to watch Family Guy online and to find out now.

Family Guy Season 14 Episode 6 Review: Peter's Sister

$

Peter is not having a happy Thanksgiving at all!

On Family Guy Season 14 Episode 6, his long-lost sister, Karen, visits, steals his traditions, and basically makes his life miserable.

Peter is not the most sympathetic character, but it's hard not to feel sorry for him after everything his sister does on what's supposed to be a warm and fuzzy day.

But how can you not smile when someone farts in Peter's face? And how about Meg finally becoming the hero?! Now that was warm and fuzzy!

Like Family Guy Season 14 Episode 5, there was no obvious subplot. It was all about Peter and we've been learning a lot about him lately. He has a sister his kids don't even know about. When she writes a letter to tell him she'll be visiting for Thanksgiving, he is not thrilled about it at all.

Lois wants her to visit and he concedes. Chris and Meg are thrilled to meet their aunt and everyone else seems to like her too, especially when she starts doing mean stuff to Peter...like farting in his face.

Yes, it's funny. But it also points out the problem of people standing by and doing nothing when they see someone being bullied.

Peter's own friends and family laugh at every mean thing Karen does to Peter, including calling him "chin nuts" to punching him in the nuts. She tells embarrassing stories about him as a child and everyone wants to hear more. They allow her to steal his traditions like cutting the turkey and telling his turkey jokes and don't think anything about it.

It's not until Karen causes her brother to pee his pants that they finally realize that maybe it's not all that funny after all.

The person who most empathizes with Peter is Meg who realizes that Karen is the reason Peter has been so mean to her over the years. It was refreshing to see Peter realize this as well, but really, this is Peter, how long will it last? The cutaway montage of Peter's meanness towards Meg to the tune of Kool & the Gang's "Celebrate" was definitely one of the highlights of the episode.

Of course, while Meg wants him to stand up to Karen by talking, Peter has a better, more Peter-like idea: fight her in the wrestling ring. His sister is a famous wrestler known as "Heavy Flow." Her famous move is the 'Toxic Shock." Funny, no?

And what better way to beat "Heavy Flow" than by becoming the wrestler, "Maxi Patty." It was ridiculously funny (and clever like Lois said). I really enjoyed the whole menstruation not-so-obvious subplot as a way to balance the seriousness of the bullying main plot. There really is something clever about that, isn't there?

Quagmire and the rest of the guys work to help Peter prepare to defeat his sister. I love how they all had a part to play. A way for them to redeem themselves for taking part in Karen's bullying. Hypnotism, Steven Segal, and painkillers (Cleveland's stereotype jokes continue). What great friends Peter has. And was that a little bit of fat shaming going on with Steven Segal? Yes, I smiled at that too.

Peter is ready, gets to the ring, and challenges Karen. Karen thinks "Maxi Patty" is just some kook from the crowd and invites her into the ring. She was planning on beating her to a pulp anyway, but once she realizes it's Peter, she really wants to go at it.

It looks like Peter is done for. He even hands the show over to Stewie, but Meg shows up as "Teen Laquifa" and hits Karen with a chair knocking her out. Meg beats the bully and wins! It was a great moment to see Meg become the hero and save her dad and it was heartwarming to see Peter finally show some appreciation for Meg. I think Peter may be on his way to becoming Father of the Year. It's funny how that tide is turning.

"Peter's Sister" was the best episode of the season so far. I found myself smiling more often than not. There were a few laugh out loud moments and the cutaways were great as well.

Family Guy Season 14 Episode 7 Review: Hot Pocket Dial

Ever butt dialed anyone?

Most times it's pretty harmless, but on Family Guy Season 14 Episode 7, Quagmire's accidental butt dial to Peter almost destroys their friendship.

After all, it's one thing to lust after your best friend's wife, but to claim you actually "love" her? Well, that just crosses the line.

Sort of what a good chunk of the cutaways did this episode. But, we'll get to those later.

Declaring His Love - Family Guy

Sometimes watching Peter makes me wish I was a cartoon character just so I could hang around him and be stupid all day. How does someone not know how to use a toothpick? It was hilarious watching Peter put it in his mouth slow motion.

Once Lois snaps him out of his stupidity, and he finally figures it out, Peter takes toothpick picking to a level only Peter can...by becoming toothpick guy. We have all met one of them, haven't we? Annoying.

But, then, he accidentally swallows his beloved toothpick, so he and Lois go back to the restaurant to get another one.

Luckily for us, his newfound fascination ends rather quickly after he sees an old lady using one. What's worse? Seeing an old lady use a toothpick or seeing a gnarly piece of food in an old lady's mouth? You decide.

Then things get serious as the Quagmire butt dialing story takes hold. It was nice to see Glenn pretending to have a good time with his dad/mom, Ida. Nothing like Lois doing a little Caitlyn slam without doing a Caitlyn slam. Lois is such a bitch, isn't she?

But Lois is also the center of attention as Quagmire admits to Ida his "love" for his best friend's wife. Unbeknownst to him, he butt dials Peter while making this confession. When Peter listens to his messages later and hears Quagmire's words, he is not happy. Like any guy, he wants to confront Quagmire and protect his woman,  but Brian convinces him not to, or at least tries to convince him.

And I'm sure the fact that Brian has a thing for Lois isn't influencing this thinking at all, right? How would Peter react to that revelation?

It's an interesting thought when Brian said Peter was eavesdropping on a private conversation. Could something like that be violating the caller's privacy?  It certainly wasn't something that Quagmire intended for Peter to hear, and I was actually surprised that he admitted it to Ida. Maybe he had too much wine.

Either way, the revelation causes problems between the two friends. Lois is flattered. Peter is jealous and afraid. Quagmire is humiliated. Peter and Quagmire have a fist fight. Quagmire moves out of Spooner Street.

Peter is so immature when he flips off Quagmire, but I had to laugh. "Hey, Quagmire, you forgot something."

The guys realize that life is boring without Quagmire, and Joe actually thinks he can take over saying "giggity." Yeah, right. Now that's funny!

Eventually, Lois, being the levelheaded person she is, gets everyone to make up, and all is good once again in Quahog. Even if we are "all terrible people on the inside," like Lois said.

I really enjoyed hearing everyone sharing the things they think about but don't act on. I can see Lois pushing people off of train platforms, can't you?

While the whole butt dialing plot line was incredibly entertaining, it was the cutaways that really made the episode this time around.

Standouts were the Disney slams. I counted two: Don't get on the train and the carnivorous Little Mermaid. Think about it! It's true!!

Stewie's arm pants adventure in Tampa Bay was hilarious. Peter's pheasant fetish was disgusting, but funny. And how does Family Guy keep getting away with the Cleveland jokes?

But, my absolute favorite was the musical. I had to watch that one a couple of times to catch them all. Continuous, anyone?

"Hot Pocket Dial" was one of the more entertaining episodes of the season. Yes, it made me realize that, I, too, am a terrible person for laughing at things I shouldn't be laughing at. But, hey, this is a cartoon. It's not real, right?

Fox at Midseason: What Will Get Renewed?

$

Fox has dropped a lot in recent years, but they still have the advantage of having the number 1 broadcast drama.

They recently stated that they will no longer be taking Live ratings into consideration, but is this just some PR spin, or will this ring true?

We have no clue and it will surely be answered when their renewals are announced.

Have a look at the slideshow below with all the analysis!

1. Empire

Empire
Empire has drip dropped in Season 2, but not by much. Current averages at a 4.77 rating and 12.28 million viewers meaning it has dropped 7% from Season 1. Over on the DVR, the show is racking up solid increases of 50%. Add in the fact that Fox is actively looking at ways to further extend the brand and you have an easy decision. Renewed.

2. The Simpsons

The simpsons
This comedy has been on the air for over 25 years and still pulling in respectable ratings. Season 27 is down just 5% to average a 2.04 rating and 4.71 million viewers. The show is already renewed!

3. Rosewood

Rosewood
This show is a surprise success. Season 1 is averaging a 1.62 rating and 5.45 million viewers. The show is good for a sophomore run, but the lack of gains with DVR mean this show only really has decent live ratings.

4. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Brooklyn nine nine
This show is down just over 10% in Season 4 and is averaging a 1.54 rating and 3.35 million viewers. The show is moving to Tuesdays come January to help improve the night. This shows that Fox has faith in the show. It's adding 50% on the DVR and will be around for Season 4.

5. Family Guy

Family guy
This hilarious comedy has shed almost 30% in Season 14. It's currently averaging a 1.53 rating and 3.20 million viewers. The numbers swell 50% with DVR and that puts the show in the certain to be renewed group.

6. Gotham

Gotham
This superhero drama is down 30%, but still pulling in respectable numbers. Season 2 is averaging a 1.51 rating and 4.51 million viewers. The show is almost doubling the audience over on the DVR. Likely to be renewed!

Family Guy Season 14 Episode 9 Review: A Shot in the Dark

Never give a stupid man a gun, or things could turn out horribly, just like they did for Peter on Family Guy Season 14 Episode 9.

Or was it Cleveland and his family that things turned out horribly for? Or maybe it was just the audience that got the short end this time around.

Peter's Neighborhood Watch - Family Guy

It was another Peter-centric episode, and while Peter has been fun, this time around, his adventures did not lead us to a place of laughter. What we were led to, instead, was the worn down path of racism and gun control, among others, and it was not fun. Relevant and timely? Absolutely. Funny? Not at all.

Peter's new adventure is to form a neighborhood watch group after his couch gets stolen. He doesn't even consider that maybe it was taken because, like an idiot, he left it out there on the parkway. But, as we know, Peter is not a man of common sense.

Peter is so into his neighborhood watch duty that he's willing to forego sex with Lois, which, right there, should raise the red flag that something bad will happen. And it does: Peter shoots Cleveland Junior. And, wow. It explodes out of control on both sides.

The most interesting scene was where Peter brought over a bottle of booze and cigars to try to make amends with Cleveland, but instead made everything worse when the cigar fell into the open bottle, and it caught fire. The statement made here was spot on. People only saw part of the story, but were quick to make assumptions about what did or didn't happen.

It never turns out well for anyone when things  happen like that. And that, I guess, is the lesson Family Guy is trying to tell us. One of many lessons trying to be told here.

Unfortunately, that is not the reason I watch Family Guy. I like to be entertained and about the only thing even remotely amusing was when Peter told Lois about his black face plan, and she started beating him with a rolled-up magazine because she was exasperated by his stupidity. It was a laugh-out-loud moment that worked to lighten up the heaviness of the episode up to that point.

And then it was ruined with a Meg and Chris throw in about effects of growing up in abusive households. Why couldn't the writers just have let us have that moment? Why ruin it with something completely out of left field?

Lots of horrible things happened in "A Shot in the Dark," for Peter, for Cleveland, but mostly for the viewers.

Family Guy Season 14 Episode 10 Review: Candy, Quahog Marshmallow

Who wants to live in Ko-rea...

Nothing like Peter to come up with a song that sticks in your mind like "Candy, Quahog Marshmallow"! But more importantly, can you imagine Quahog without Quagmire? Who would say "Giggity"? Cleveland?

The best Family Guy episodes are the ones that are nonsensical, silly, and not-so-serious (unlike Family Guy Season 14 Episode 9); the ones that make you laugh, shake your head at clever humor, and allow you to immerse yourself in idiocy.

Family Guy Season 14 Episode 10 is one of the best.

Considering this is Quagmire-centric, it's no surprise that sex surrounds every aspect this time around. There are some extremely clever references and some just blatantly funny.

Overall, it all worked.

Even Joe got in on the fun when he teased Quagmire about the "Dickies" Ida left behind at the show's start. It was a roll-your-eyes kind of laugh, but a laugh nonetheless, one that you don't get too often from Joe.

But the episode really gets rolling after the guys find a video of a soap opera Quagmire starred in when he was in Korea. It's in Korean, and even though none of it makes any sense (even with English subtitles), Peter, Joe, and Cleveland fully immerse themselves into this world, and go on a binge-watching fest.

When it turns out that the finale is missing, Peter, being Peter, comes up with the idea of traveling to Korea to search for it.

Nothing like Family Guy to mock binge-watching. It is ridiculous, isn't it? As is the whole "shipping" concept which gets its shot when the guys find out that Quagmire and his co-star were involved with each other outside of the show. Talk about a "squee" moment.

But the best part of the whole segment was when Quagmire was introduced to his kitty grandkids. Clever. Very clever. Oh, and it was in the music video too. Nice move.

Though, I have to say that I could have done without Cleveland's, "Giggity." But maybe it's just because I don't like Cleveland. He's a mockery of himself, to say the least.

Anyway, Quagmire decides he's not going back home (I love how sometimes Quagmire tries to be normal), so Peter does what he does best and comes up with a stupid idea. Only this time his stupid idea is awesome! The music video is the highlight of this entire episode. So colorful, nonsensical, offensive, and entertaining. It does what every absurd pop song with a snappy hook does: stick in your head. Can we get "Candy, Quahog Marshmallow" on iTunes, please?

Eventually, Quagmire comes to his senses and leads a flash mob into a condensed version of the song for even more hilarious ridiculousness.

Not so ridiculous were the cutaways this time around. They haven't been that good lately, but the writers made up for it. The best ones were the Shawshank Redemption's poster controversy (will that ever die??), and Ashton Kutcher's, Dr. Lee Pet Engine Cooking Bag. How did he even do that with a straight face, or better yet, how many takes before he kept a straight face?

There was so much to love about this episode from beginning to end and almost everything in between. It was definitely a K-pop joyride.

Family Guy Season 14 Episode 11 Review: The Peanut Butter Kid

$
0
0

We always knew Stewie was a special kid, so it wasn't really surprising when he gets cast to star in a commercial in Family Guy Season 14 Episode 11.

But what starts out as something fun, quickly turns into something crazy when Lois and Peter become the stereotypical child actor parents.

Stewie Becomes a Star - Family Guy

Quagmire put the whole episode into perspective when he told everyone at the commercial's screening to calm down because all Stewie did was a cute baby thing. And he was right. The commercial was just Stewie sitting on a toilet, smearing peanut butter on his face, and saying "nom, nom, nom, nom, nom."

The only difference was that he was getting paid for this cuteness. But it was funny watching Stewie's football head move side to side while saying that ridiculous line.

Peter and Lois are pretty crappy parents to begin with, so when their heads get big after that one success, it's kind of amusing. How could they possibly get any worse? Well, now they are parents of a child actor, the worst of the worst, at least that's what Family Guy wants us to believe.

I get that the young acting life must be rough on kids, but the portrayal I saw of two idiotic parents pushing their kids to perform better and getting into crazy pissing contests with other parents doesn't seem that much different from plain, old regular competitive parents who push their kids in sports or academics.

Maybe the "normal" parents don't give their kids cocaine to enhance their performance, but is giving Red Bull to help your kid any different?

But, this is a cartoon and a high Stewie makes for a funny Stewie. And an idiot Peter makes for a funny Peter. And Brian as the voice of reason, as is the case this time around, makes for a very boring and irritating Brian.

It wasn't very funny when he went to his board to show Stewie the fate of child actors to try to convince him to get out of the life. And Stewie was a little quick to come around to Brian's side, which I really didn't like.

Stewie is a pretty smart kid, and we know his history, so it was difficult to buy when he said he trusted that the Fat Man knew what he was doing.

But the Bryan Singer dig was amusing. As was the Anne Hathaway dig. Who doesn't love Anne Hathaway?

As I mentioned in my review of Family Guy Season 14 Episode 10, the show works best when it's silly and not so serious. While there were plenty of silly moments, like Peter's short obsession with metal detecting, the Burlesque act, and the Griffin's eating out at a fancy restaurant to name a few, Brian's annoying bits brought the level way down.

Every time he was on screen was an interruption, which usually isn't the case with him. He was being the audience's dad when no dad was necessary.

But Brian does deserve the credit for helping with one of the best parts of the episode, since he was the one that convinced Stewie to give up the acting life. Stewie's meltdown during the orange juice commercial at the end was classic and hilarious. I could watch that scene over and over and never get bored.

Although not the best episode of the season, Family Guy Season 14 Episode 11, was still entertaining and amusing. Plus, there was no Cleveland, and that's always a positive.

Ready for a breakdown of Family Guy Season 14 Episode 11?

Good. Let's do this!

On the latest installment of this smash hit sitcom the Griffins were low on funds.

As a result, Stewie went ahead and got cast in a peanut-butter commercial and, in a jiffy (get it?!?), he became the family breadwinner.

Awkward!

Meanwhile, Lois and Peter turned into crazed show-business parents, while Brian tried to prove to Stewie that being a child actor is no big deal.

Family Guy Season 14 Episode 12 Review: Scammed Yankees

Money can buy a lot of things, but it can't buy brains.

And Peter and Carter being alone together is never good, but things go to the extreme on Family Guy Season 14 Episode 12.

Carter falls for an email scam from a Nigerian prince, and Peter, being Peter, encourages Carter to send the fictional prince money.

What happens afterwards is supposed to be funny, but it pretty much falls flat, as does Brian's attempted seduction of Meg's friend Patty.

The whole Peter and Carter storyline was a little odd. In fact, the whole episode was a little odd.

After Lois and Babs leave for a mother/daughter spa day, Peter and Carter are trying to figure out what to do. Peter starts focusing on the idea that they are alone, and he and Carter end up in the bathtub together.

I'm sure I'm missing something here, but it wasn't funny. Not even when Carter tried to make the moment less weird by pulling out plates of spaghetti. Then they are sitting right back on the couch and Peter suggests they watch porn.

Maybe it's just a guy thing, but Carter thinks it's weird too. Eventually Peter shows Carter a YouTube video, which he finds amusing, decides to email it to Babs, and that's when their adventure begins.

It's not surprising that Peter would encourage Carter to send money to a stranger. And it's not surprising that Carter would be ticked when he finds out it was a scam. Of course, he blames Peter for it and makes him go to Africa with him to try to get his money back.

When they get there, they come across a warlord who is terrorizing a bunch of kids. They make fun of Alonzo "Hamburger" Jones, a comic from the 90s who ends all his jokes with "hamburger" and this is what the warlord does. It was really stupid, but maybe that was the point. Unfortunately, it wasn't funny.

When the two are held at gunpoint by the militants, Peter's phone rings and he makes an excuse to answer it. "It's imperative," he tells his captor.

That was sort of amusing. They are then thrown into jail, but released when the warlord learns that Carter was the one who sent the money, which he used to make improvements to the village.

Carter is just a cranky ass and demands that everything be torn down, and he actually pays them to do it. He is just as stupid as his son-in-law. The story drags on with Lois eventually saving Peter and knocking some sense into her dad, who was just apparently angry that he is getting old.

The village ends up getting money to rebuild everything, and everyone is happy. Plus, we got to hear a Paul Simon parody song along the way. Wow. That really made the episode better.

It wasn't all bad, though. The Kwanzaa exchange between Carter and the warlord was entertaining, as was the jab at Walter Palmer, the idiot who killed Cecil the Lion. Neil deGrasse Tyson's appearance and parody of himself was probably the highlight of the episode.

I also appreciated the ending with Peter taking the picture to post on social media. I wonder how many likes he'll get. Hopefully a lot, but it was more of an "I get it moment" than a laughable one.

There were many of those this time around. Cutaways were pretty dead for the most part. The only one that was somewhat amusing was the ants at a picnic one.

As far as Brian's storyline, I don't even want to go there. Brian has just been beyond annoying lately, and him pursuing one of Meg's friends was just idiotic – great body or not. Yes, we know Brian is shallow. I understand what they were trying to get across, but I'm watching Family Guy for amusement, not for moral or social issue lectures.

After two superb episodes, this one was one big fail, perhaps even the worst so far of the season. Maybe it is time for Family Guy to hang it up.

While they were there, Peter entertained his father-in-law at home, where the two men ended up getetig taken in an email scam. Because of course they did, right?

13 Shows Need to Be Canceled. Like... NOW!

It's hard.

You've watched your favorite show for seasons...but it's just not the same anymore. The cast has changed. The stories aren't what they used to be. What once had you counting the hours awaiting a new episode has now become a weekly struggle to watch.

The magic is gone.

Should it be allowed to linger, limp along and suffer a slow an agonizing TV death or is it better to pull the plug and hope the writers can somehow pull it together to let that once amazing show go out on a high?

Here are 13 current shows where we think it might be better to let them go out gracefully than keep them going.

But you tell us...should these shows be canceled?

1. Castle

Getting through it together castle s7e15
First they failed to give fans the big, happy, wedding they deserved and bogged season 7 down with a convoluted disappearance story that made little sense. Who would think it could get worse? No one…until season 8 when the show split up Rick and Kate for LokSat, a conspiracy that makes no sense. Castle, a show that touted itself as an epic love story between a Writer and his Detective Muse has completely lost its way. The characters have gone in such different directions that it is almost unrecognizable as the show most fans fell in love with. Our hope is that both stars resign and the show can reset itself and go back to the epic Caskett romance where our favorite couple works together to solve quirky crimes. If that isn’t possible, then it should be allowed to rest in peace.

2. Reign

Mary and francis in love
Reign should be canceled because they dropped the ball telling the story when Francis was still alive, and now he's dead. Gaining steam again will be difficult enough as it is, and they're also trying to jam Queen Elizabeth down our throats. It seems as if the hope was being placed on the fans love for Mary, but in having Mary step out on Francis for much of Reign Season 2, it was love lost, making the battle between queens a lot less lustrous. Time to make way for new programming, and if pilots ordered are any indication, The CW has a lot out there.

3. The Good Wife

Voter fraud the good wife
Alicia Florrick has been the good wife, the chated on wife, the cheating wife, and now the figure head wife. She’s been the new attorney, the renegade who started her own firm, the politician bogged down in scandal and now she’s back to starting her own firm once again. Her true love is dead and her marriage is a sham. Should Alicia now run for public office again? Finally divorce her husband? As much as we've loved the series, with the original showrunners on their way out, it may just be time to wrap up Alicia's story and move on.

4. NCIS

The 40 year old cold case ncis
The writers of NCIS managed to pull a rabbit out of their hat when Cote de Pablo left the series in NCIS Season 11 Episode 2. Ziva’s exit provoked some strong fresh plot writing, and the series seemed to pick up speed. The rest of the characters haven't evolved much, however. Gibbs remains taciturn and grumpy, Abby is an overgrown kid, Palmer continually fumbles, and McGee has gotten whiny. Bishop is still too new to the team. With the news that Michael Weatherly (Tony DiNozzo) is leaving at the end of NCIS Season 13, it's time to retire this series while they're still on a relatively high note with viewership numbers. Interest and the show's popularity will drop heavily once he's gone.

5. The Vampire Diaries

Is this goodbye the vampire diaries s6e22
The Vampire Diaries has been on the air a whopping seven seasons now, which is an impressive feat for sure. They even managed to keep the show going, and maintain (some of) the audience's interest, after the departure of female lead Nina Dobrev at the end of the sixth season. Unfortunately, the show is beginning to show signs of its age-- it is often repetitive and low-stakes. Characters die and are resurrected practically every other episode, and subsequent villains have never remotely measured up to early S2/S3 Klaus Mikaelson (though Kai, brief as his reign of terror was, came pretty close). It's time to retire this supernatural teen drama while it still has a little bit of life left in it, instead of running it into the ground.

6. Supernatural

Time for a bro moment supernatural season 11 episode 5
How many times can you realistically cheat death? That's the question that's begun to plague Supernatural as it lumbers on into its 11th season. Isn't it better to let the iconic show try and go out with a bang than to let it continue to trail off halfheartedly especially if either of the two stars, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles decide that they want to move on. Perhaps the CW should wrap things up and give this show the proper spooky sendoff it deserves.

Quotes of the Week from DC's Legends of Tomorrow, The 100 & More!

Thursdays really had things rolling this week as Heroes limped off for the second time in television history while DC's Legends of Tomorrow roared onto the night with so many quotable moments, making it one of the most purely enjoyable hours on the telly in ages.

That was followed by the triumphant return of The 100 and they are never lacking for witty dialog.

TBS had 25 hours of essentially commercial-free Angie Tribeca to giggle over while Supernatural set the Devil into a new body, but gave Sam the right of first refusal. You can see how well he took that in the quote in this show.

Find out what else was going on around the dial when you scroll through the slideshow!

Family Guy Season 14 Episode 14 Review: Underage Peter

What would Peter do if he couldn't drink?

It's not something he has to worry about for too long on Family Guy Season 14 Episode 14, especially when he has a best friend like Brian to save his drinking days.

Though, it does seem that Peter is a pretty good knitter.

Is it any surprise that Peter would be the one responsible for Mayor West raising Quahog's drinking age to 50? He said it best when he told Brian later in the episode:

I'm not the smartest man in the world, but I can always look back on my life and say I went for it.

Peter

Give Peter credit for seeing the truth.

It all starts at the Clam when Cleveland puts hot sauce on his fries. I guess Peter has never tried hot sauce before, because when he takes a taste, he is almost surprised at how much he burns up.

Sometimes I think Quagmire does things to Peter just to amuse himself. He offers Peter 10 bucks to drink a shot glass full of hot sauce, and Peter, looking to make some easy cash, but probably more because he's an idiot, takes him up on the offer.

This leads to the rest guys offering him 10 bucks to do other stupid stuff. Are you really surprised that Peter doesn't change his underwear?

A drunk Cleveland joins in on the action with the stupidest idea of them all when he tells an even drunker Peter to drink as much water as he can from the fire hydrant.

After Cleveland opens up the hydrant,  the force of the water pushes Peter through the library, destroying it. This causes weirdo Mayor West to raise the drinking age to 50, because stupid grown men like Peter can't control themselves.

So the guys try a bunch of different ways to get alcohol, even going into a prison where Peter thinks prisoners make wine in the toilet. They don't. He's drinking pee....gross! But I guess when you're desperate....

When they return to the Clam they see Brian drinking and learn that he is 56 in dog years, making him legal. Brian buys them alcohol, and they all love him, even Quagmire. They play drinking games, including taking body shots off each other. Since Brian has no belly button, all he can do is watch.

The crazy things people do when they're drunk.

Brian is now part of the group, and in feeling loved, is blind by what is really happening. He and Peter become closer, but as Stewie points out, it's only because Brian can buy him alcohol.

Brian doesn't want to believe it and even questions Peter about it. Of course, Peter lies, because after all, he doesn't want his well to run dry.  But when a cop shows up and catches Peter drinking, Peter is quick to rat out Brian for buying the alcohol.

Brian gets arrested while Peter is released. While Brian is doing community service, Peter has the gall to approach him about buying more alcohol. It's actually quite funny that Peter would even think Brian would consider it.

When Brian expresses his anger, Peter does what any good friend would do to make a point: drink hot beer and burp in their friend's face. That made me laugh. It really was a better-than-Homer burp.

In his semi-drunken state, Peter calls the cop a pig and ends up serving alongside Brian. Eventually, the two decide to confront Mayor West about repealing the law, bringing along Bruce and his boyfriend, because laws get repealed when gays get angry.

We want that drinkin' law gone, and everybody knows the best way to get any law struck down is to get the gays angry about it.

Peter

After an impassioned speech about the need to drink, West repeals the law, and everyone lives happily ever after, especially Chris with his Yanket.

Only Peter would come up with a product like the Yanket, I can't decide if this or the pot boiling cutaway was better. Both were hilarious.

So what was the lesson to be learned this time around? Fake friends or idiotic laws? Or just idiotic guys trying to make a few bucks? Who cares as long as there are laughs, and there were plenty in "Underage Peter."
